When you do the right thing you feel good about yourself
Talking with a good friend last night who had an important task to complete that they struggled with, the situation made being honest a potential problem, it would possibly have made life appear harder. We have all been there, it would have been easier to just fluff over the issue, be a bit vague and hope for the best.
I said, if you just tell the truth and accept what happens you will be free, life will be easy, you’ll deal with the consequences with clarity and openness and feel light. You will not need to hope.

You should feel good about yourself. You are here to play, to learn, to have pleasure. That’s what your life is for.
When you do the wrong thing, the secretive thing, the sneaky thing, or you say the manipulative or untrue thing you feel bad, you might feel a sweet but dark feeling of ‘getting away with it’, or ‘winning.’ But if not immediately, then eventually as the small things add up you feel heavy and embattled. As if you were in a war. As if you were swimming upstream instead of floating downstream on your back looking at the clouds.
This is an inevitable outcome of the culture we are programmed with, the culture we live in that says might is right, the culture that sets us against each other in competition, the culture that feeds the super wealthy and keeps everyone else at their service.
You can step out of this way of life at any time. Or slowly slide out of it and back in, then and out again and in, and as time goes by end up confused and indecisive. I did that for years. It is hard to get out, but once you are out it is easy. Life is easy when you stop playing their game.
Forgive them, they are hypnotised. Do the right, thing, forgive and love. Lose your anger and your fear and you find, inevitably you find your peace.
When you do the wrong thing it takes a long time to let it all go, to be light as you should be. You feel bad about yourself and find it hard to forgive yourself because you feel that you do not deserve it.
Everybody deserves forgiveness.
You deserve to be free and light because that is your true nature. We are here to play, to smile, to learn. Find this lightness by doing the right thing, not just what your sneaky mind might come up with as the right thing for you, but the real right thing. The good thing, the loving thing, the kind thing, the forgiving thing that makes you smile inside. We should all have a little smile inside.

With the beautiful warm spring this week I have been taking my mat outside and sitting among the plants in the garden. Getting down to the level of the flowers and insects the climate feels different, there are the sounds of insects, the bees and hoverflies, there are ants on my mat, the air is stiller. I am at the level of the blackbirds foraging and the robins. Meditation does not always have to be sitting on a mat and counting breaths. Sometimes it is simply going silent inside and existing with the other things that exist, existing at the same pace as the plants and trees and birds.
